Everyone else left, and noone here seems interested in actually taking an active role in keeping me involved (like giving me access to the private boards, etc), so I'm out. Sorry guys.

So we're all waiting for the next big game, and hoping one of them is worth a shit. There are some promising prospects on the horizon, but we're probably looking at about 6 months away or more.

Since I don't really feel like paying for mediocrity in the meantime, I started searching around at what the free2play world has to offer to fill the time and scratch my PvP itch. And last night I ran into something that might have some potential.

I had to get past my initial response to the Asian anime character models. They really are pretty creepy in that part of the world with their fascination with schoolgirls and metro-sexual men. But the world graphics look pretty nice so far, and it runs smooth. I only found the game last night so I know little about it, but here is the basic rundown of what I do know and why I think it's worth a look.

1. It's a pvp game. It seems to have a ruleset similar to the relic system of Dark Age of Camelot. I think there are 6 nations instead of 3.

2. It's not a hard-core grinder. You have to level some, but the focus is PvP and from what I have read you can get to cap with a month or so of casual to moderate play. Some faster, some slower I imagine.

3. It's free to play. There is an item mall, but my limited reading on the subject suggests that you can do ok without spending a dime. If I'm enjoying myself, I don't mind throwing a little bit of cash at it, as long as I can do it on the cheap. It doesn't cost anything to try it, so I'm gonna do that.

4. My initial gut reaction to the combat was favorable. It feels pretty good. That's pretty damned subjective though, since I got to all of about level 5 with 3 skills on the bar before they shut the server down for weekly scheduled maintenance.

So I am giving it a go. I read something about choosing a nation at level 10, but when you start a character it gives you an option of where to go and I chose Vanov, which is one of the nations, so I'm not sure If I am in a nation or not. Right now Vanov is the side needing players, and because of this get an xp bonus and possibly some other underdog benefits.

Hey guys,

just checking in to see how things are in GA.

Most specifically Im hoping to hear how are things are going in Merc PVP now.

I noticed this entry in the 1.36 patch notes:

"PvP Matchmaking: Matchmaking on Mercenary PvP matches has been modified to ensure better class balance, both at start of match and when backfills occur."

And saw Cryme and a few of his JL lapdogs write in a thread on the forums entitled: "THIS JUST IN: 1.36 SAVES MERC PVP"

So how are things?

of course am wondering how the magmalance wrist slap nerf has worked out and also the gutting of hornet drones ...?

Bottom line - is merc pvp reasonably fun to play again? or is still roft-stomps most of the time where you are paired up with w/retards and at completion of the matches, you want to stab yourself in the sack and vow to never play again =)

Can someone whos been playing post in response?

Hey everyone, my name is Ash. I am 27 years old and have been pc gaming since 12, mmos since UO. Currently I am looking to join an Agency in GA, mainly for AvA but I also enjoy everything on GA. I have sent an app in game but I didnt think it would hurt to say whats up here. I have TS3 and will have a mic before the end of this weekend. Also I tried to enter my steam id here and it would not let me so I entered it as Perma_Hexx, but it is in fact Perma Hexx. My GA name is PermaHexx.

Currently I play GA the most lvl 19 robo, lvl 11 assault

Also I play EVE
I play Starcraft 2 but I am not so serious at it.
When not playing that I am filling time with Torchlight and various Xbox games
