USB Intellimouse Disconnecting/Connecting
Hi all,

Running XP Pro, USB 2.0 and I have updated to all the latest drivers for my Mobo (Asus A7N8X) and Mouse (MS Intellimouse with Intellieye with wheel) but the mouse is constantly disconnecting and connecting. I hear the Windows XP device disconnect sound, and then a second later the connect sound and every time it happens the mouse completely freezes up for a second or two.

From what I've seen, it seems to happen when I'm doing more intensive operations like graphics editing.

Any ideas?
Thanks very much for whatever input you can give.

Except i have Windows XP Home, USB 2.0, Logitech MX510 and Intel 865PE mobo - i can't post on that thread tho, i registered but they didnt send me a confirmation email yet.

Plugged in the Logitech MX510 into the USB and then used the Ps2 converter and i couldnt even move the cursor, it didnt detect the mouse :X

I'll try the chipset when i get home.

Some systems get picky (fuck knows why) about which USB the mouse is in. If you change USB ports, it will recognize it as new. Or it will work just fine in XX port, but have problems in the other.

Switch it around.

Doesn't detect it in any USB slot or the ps2 slots -- I even tried the USB port that the router is plugged into so it cant be the USB slots.

Im building my own computer from now on.

Anybody know where i can find the last update for Intel 82801EB USB driver? Maybe that needs to be updated :X

The optical light lights up on the mouse but if you try to move it, it doesn't respond, I turn off the computer and put in the ps2 mouse (dells pos) and it works perfectly. The new hardware dialog box doesn't pop up for the Logitech mouse either - i checked the BIOS settings and it does have the USB detection or whatever it is on.

Any suggestions? Its not making the connecting/disconnecting sounds anymore since i cant move it from the start.

I plugged the mx510 into the front usb jack and its working, now to see if it disconnects/reconnects. I plugged it in after the computer started and it worked.

I just shut it down and started it up and it detected the mouse, it looks like a good sign! Now if it starts disconnecting/reconnecting again im gonna be pissed!
