that's what I was wondering... There are some 512MB workstation video cards out there... for engineering shit.. but that's high dollar stuff.

Splinter Cell 2 only supports four players for its' multiplayer mode, and it's one of the most different and unique experience, especially when you can only LAN with a few of your friends. It's a freaking blast.

But Doom3 only supports 4 people? Link please.

If my memory serves me, the "omg Doom3 only supports 4 in multiplay@!?!@?!!!" screams are a bit off target. The problem is that the default maps included with the game are to be 4 player maps. This was a decision by the development team for whatever reason. The game can actually support more that four people in player created maps (I seem to recall double digets). Personally I think it was a silly idea, and they kind of deserve to have these rumors floating amok.

The only preview about the multiplayer. iD could have came out and said that their will be maps that support more than just 4 people, but they didnt. They said that it players can make maps that support more than 4 people, but like most new games, it takes awhile for people to make new maps.

Me and my friends still have Xbox Halo LAN's once a month or so. The game never gets boring with that many people playing and yelling at each other.

I think Carmack is trying to sell his engine as much as his game. Considering that end, those specs are designed to cause controversy.

I'm sick of the heavy concentration on graphics with new shooters . Once you get to a certain 'quality' of graphics I don't give a shit. I'm one of those odd people that tend to rate games more on gamepley.

I've seen some of these game ranking sites that rank the games in four areas: Gameplay, Replayability, Graphics, Sound and have them all count equally for the final rating.

Things will continue to go this way as long as all the mindless masses pour their money in so they can 'OOOH' and 'AHHH' at the graphics/effects in a POS game.

I think the Doom 3 engine was designed to last...a long long time. 512mb Video card on Ultra? Well, considering that 256mb is pushing todays standards, Doom 3 engine will be around until hardware can catch up to the best specs and then beat it. Thats assuming that the engine is easy to use and doesnt suck ass.

My comp looked at that, then had a seizure...

Of course, this is right after PS crashed, TS wouldn't connect, and my campus net went down. Doh!
