I want to buy a good headset that won’t cost me a fortune, does anyone have any recommendations.

Mine have Altec Lansing on them. Works fine for me :)

Doesnt the DSP500 have a built in sound card that allows EAX or something..?

I use these, they're all padded and such. Same $25 if you get them off buy.com, and it's free shipping.

I have had 25$-40$ headsets and they break. Now all i use is the 15$ ones from walmart. They last just as long and work just as good.

Get a mic and a good pair of headphones instead.

Good headphones should not be underestimated.

I went the route Hedron did after going through a few Plantronics headsets.

Got some solid Sony headphones, and I have a Logitech USB desk microphone. My wife uses it to video conference with her dad, and I use the setup to shoot fuckers.

Highly prefer it over having to double-plug in a headset/mike.

I went through a lot of cheap headsets before I finally caved and got this. I'm very pleased with it. Good sound response and great microphone. It's a Logitech USB Headset/Mic combo 300 for $50

Are there any quality differences between USB and analog?

I have the Platronics Audio 90s as well. I also have a set of 5.1 speakers.

Is there a way to set it up to where the voice over teamspeak comes through the headphones and the game music and sound effects come through the speakers? I use the speakers for sound and voice right now and just use the mic on the Platronics.

only if you a hve 2 soundcards ;)

Striker, I do that. What you need is two sound cards.

I have a 5.1 soundcard and a regular SB PC128. In the Teamspeak settings you can choose which one to use for in put and output.

I've done that for a while and it works great. You just have to tweak with the sound settings in windows to unmute the mics and such.

I also have only a mono (one speaker) headset, so it doesn't interfer with the game sounds. The best part is that when the people dont' shut up, I can just take it off. I can still hear when someone is talking, it's just not right in my head.[/quote]
